Caribbean Reefs and Ocean Optimism
As we leave Falmouth Harbor, Antigua behind, it is hard to believe we are sailing the last leg of our journey. It feels like yesterday we were splashing around the waters of St. Croix before embarking on the SSV Corwith Cramer.

Reefs, Rainbows, and Rendezvous: First Reef Survey Day in Montserrat
Hello, friends! My name is Caroline and I am from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Today, I get to tell the tale of our first day of snorkel adventures in Montserrat! After an eventful morning of chore duty, C Watch loaded into the small boats (we helped build the “Station Wagon” yesterday!) and headed out to Rendezvous Bay at 1030.

Big Waves, Little Moments, and a Bunch of Remixes
Hello from Montserrat! My name is Lexi Wright and I’m a junior at College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine. It has been a wild few days here on the Cramer! We spent all of Monday circumnavigating Montserrat and Redonda, where we experienced choppy seas and high winds.

Back at Sea
Hello outside world! It’s Third Scientist Ella Cedarholm, class of S-278 alum and A Watch officer, here to offer a glimpse of life aboard the SSV Corwith Cramer on December 4, 2019. Our Wednesday began largely the same as any other - with breakfast and chores.

Greetings from C-289 in Grenada! We had an action-packed day going on a tour of the island! We started off our adventure with a stretching exercise led by Cody, our steward, in the marina parking lot. We then met our tour guide, Mandoo Seales, and boarded the air-conditioned van (emphasis on the air conditioning).

Reggae, Sea Turtles, and Counting Corals: A Typical Day in the Caribbean Reef Expedition Program
Hey! My name is Francesca and I’m part of the class C-289. I’m also a member of Middlebury College’s class of 2023.5. In fact, unlike my classmates, I haven’t started college yet! It definitely was daunting at first to be surrounded by college juniors and seniors who seemed so much more mature and experienced, but I quickly felt like I fit right in, and that’s mostly due to my amazing classmates/shipmates.

Settling Into St. Croix
Greetings from beautiful St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands and thank you for reading the inaugural blog post for C-289 (the “C” stands for our ship, the Corwith Cramer, which will be our home for the 289th SEA Semester voyage).
