Welcome SEASCape Session 2!

Emma Tolerton, A House RA

SEA Semester

Students get to know each other around the picnic table.

Despite the rainy and gloomy Monday weather excitement was high as we welcomed 25 new SEASCape students to the campus for Session 2! They come from all over the country and the world bringing their interests and eagerness to learn over the next three weeks. After a general orientation with parents, students, faculty, and RAs we broke off in to our individual houses to get to know each other and our house procedures.

Once the students bid their farewells to family members and finished moving in we had a wonderful pasta dinner courtesy of Sabrina Steward and then headed up to Madden once again for an academic orientation from our wonderful faculty members. We topped it all off by playing a fun getting-to-know-you game.

The students will take an Oceanography class to learn about the many ways to scientifically study the ocean complimented by a background in the relationship between humans and the ocean in their Oceans and Society class. The other RAs and I are looking forward to the next three weeks of exciting field trips, learning, and bonding!
