Souls on Board

Every day, our amazing galley team of Erin and Nina keeps us fed. Today, we let them sleep while the rest of the crew (mates, scientists, engineers, deckhands) filled in and cooked. We managed to feed everyone the usual 6 meals, but there is a reason “staff in the galley day” is also known as “steward appreciation day.” I only cooked one meal of the six, but that reinforced my opinion that the stewards are superhuman.

After making fried chicken, beans, and corn with the rest of the B watch officers, I went on watch for a very nice afternoon of downwind sailing under the Trys’l and the main and fore stays’l. We are currently two days out of Lisbon, Portugal, and the students are really getting the hang of sailing the Cramer.  While I am looking forward to getting into port, it will be sad to leave the routine of being offshore behind.

To family and friends back home, I can’t wait to hear all of your stories when I get back!

I also would like to sincerely thank Erin and Nina for feeding our kids!
All I know is that it has taken the chore off of my plate (no pun intended)
and made my staycation that much more enjoyable lol
The same goes for any and all stewards who also lent a helping hand.

Enjoy Portugal’s fresh seafood!
