SEA Currents: Corwith Cramer

September 16, 2015

She Swims!

Chris Nolan, Captain

Corwith Cramer

SSV Corwith Cramer sits alongside the dock after launching.

SSV Corwith Cramer is back in the water, where she belongs. After a month-long maintenance period and a new bottom paint job, we launched the ship on the marine railway and tied her up on the dock for a few more days of maintenance before we depart Mallorca. It feels great to be back on the water.

This yard period has been a great opportunity for the crew to learn more about SSV Corwith Cramer as well as perform some critical maintenance which will keep the ship running as safely and efficiently as possible for the next year. Personally, I really enjoy working on boats and ships of all sizes, and it has been an absolute blast getting to know this crew and ship.

This weekend, we will be privileged to embark nearly 20 colleagues from European institutions who will sail with us from Mallorca to Barcelona and experience a taste of what SEA Semester is all about. Along the way, we’ll build a community of shipmates, perform science, do some sailing, and eat some wonderful food.  Please continue to follow our blog for more stories and pictures as we head out on the next adventure!

Be sure to check out more photos and videos on our Instagram and Facebook pages.  Thanks for joining us for #Crameryard2015!
