A Relaxing Day Off

Above: Bowling!; Below: Making challah
Today was Sunday! We had no classes and fun activities. After sleeping in, the sweet smell of french toast and bacon woke us up. After a leisurely brunch, we created tye-dye shirts. Though we were firmly told to use only three colors on our shirt, almost everyone went crazy with the paint. Some of us still have colorful hands to sure for it. Before the special activities, a few of us attempted to bake Challah, a task that got the best of all of us. We took our time in order to make sure the bread was perfect, but ironically, the Challah rose for so long that the yeast got overworked, and the bread lost much of its flavor!!! As the day grew hotter, half of us took the opportunity to cool off in the ocean at Racing Beach, while the other half of us hopped in the vans to head to downtown Falmouth. There, we all played a round of bowling (in the AC), and walked around the town. The highlight of the visit was the Boulangerie Patisserie, a French Bakery that specializes in rare desserts. After a few hours of chill time, we all celebrated a great week with pizza night and a screening of two movies: Pirates of the Carribean, and Spirited Away. Our day off had become a day of fun!
Tomorrow is the day of our much anticipated whale watch. We will be waking up at 6:15 to travel to Plymouth, Massachusetts in order to board the boat. We are going to go to Stellwagen Bank, a national marine sanctuary famous for its whales. Hopefully, it is cool out on the water, and we are able to see many whales. After studying the whaling industry in Ocean’s and Society class, and after learning about how boats are affecting whales ability to communicate, we are all extremely excited for tomorrow.
