Life After SEA Semester
Anchored in Moorea (paradise)
Sitting in a calm bay encircled by jagged green mountains. A sliver of a moon disappearing behind a prehistoric peak. Twinkling colored lights strung up on the quarterdeck. 31 souls gathered to acknowledge their hard work and companionship. Small outriggers shining mystic lights to lure in fish around us. Ukelele chords and voices creating songs both hysterical and touching. The final night onboard. A swizzle, a collection of our various talents and nontalents to celebrate our community one last time.
The day was full of celebration, between large chunks of cleaning. We started with a swim call in this magical anchorage of Moorea, with dolphins swimming alongside us. We rolled into field day and made the boat cleaner than when we first got onboard. Then it was dinner time where these animals consumed 10 racks of ribs. We got our silly costumes on, performed for each other, and now we are saying goodbye. I personally am thankful for such a wonderful time with these people. Thank you for sending your loved ones to sea, to share this experience. I think everyone will take something different away, but I don't think anyone can forget what they've experienced out here. This will stay with us for the rest of our lives. As our Chief Mate Sara Martin said this morning, "This is the start of your life after SEA Semester." Have fun, and I hope to see some of you again.
