Description of location

Today we deep-cleaned the Cramer! Instead of having class in the afternoon, we split into watches and cleaned the whole below decks area. A Watch took the Galley, B watch took the Main Salon, and C watch took the aft cabins. We clean the Cramer thoroughly every day, because grime magically appears even when we’re at sea, but today we stepped it up a notch and got everything we might have missed during the week. We cleaned from the top down, starting with the walls and anything high up – low ceilings, Roxy the stove, mirrors, etc – and worked our way down to the soles (floors). We’re keeping her in ship-shape.
After we finished, we all changed into bathing suits and treated ourselves to a salt water shower on deck! (followed by freshwater to rinse off the salt.) Very exciting, not as cold as you’d expect, great fun. Goodness knows we needed it, because we’d picked up a lot of the grime ourselves and it can get pretty hot working hard belowdecks. After rinsing off, we sat (with the Captain’s permission) on the flat roof of the Doghouse (main control cabin) to dry off and enjoy the sun.
At the end of the day I can verify that a clean ship is a happy ship. It’s a never ending battle, but I think that we’ve got this one in the (trash) bag.
Hoping you’re all well,
P.S.: Henry, congratulations on becoming a Bar Mitzvah! I’m so proud of you, and I love you and all the Burdorf doofuses. Meep.
