Our Last Day in France

Warm and sunny!

Souls on Board

For our morning program (class) time, we went and toured Plomarche, the site of an ancient farmstead and Roman ruin about a 15 minute walk from the ship. We learned about the importance of sardines to French history and culture, as well as discussed other major factors that play into that history, such as the fall of the Roman Empire. Professor Dan always brings such excitement to our lecture sessions and we can all tell he just absolutely loves history!

After the educational portion of our day (although, we never really stop learning when we're in a new and exciting place!), a big group of us went to a nearby beach and spent time taking pictures of our beautiful surroundings, relaxing, playing in the water, and much more. Unfortunately, the beach was in the middle of nowhere-- as some of us found out, trying to find a store for food.

Now it is the end of our fourth and last day in Douarnenez, and we are happy, sunburnt, and excited for our next (10 day) leg to Lisbon, Portugal. Thanks for the rich history, chocolate, and cidre, France!

P.S. Happy birthday to the two most important guys in my life-my dad and my boyfriend! I love you both very much!
