When C-Watch took the deck at 0100 this morning, we were told to put on our foulies because it had been raining for quite some time. Although it was pouring down on us, we still had great visibility from the waxing gibbous moon above us. As the moon started to set and the sun started to rise, we were able to see the orange glow of the moon peak through the clouds. It was definitely a bright spot! As the sky got brighter, I noticed a double rainbow while at lookout. This was another nice interlude from being pelted by rain. Although it was a pretty gloomy watch, this was a great ending to a cold, stormy night.
After a great breakfast from Caleb and Jen of eggs and bacon, C-Watch hunkered down – especially those of us most impacted by the port tack we are on -- in our bunks for some good shut-eye before field day. Then all three watches were ready to go to work “defeating the mung” once again. My watch was back to cleaning everything in the aft part of the ship – from the doghouse to the trenches of 16th street and Sleepy Hollow. After we were all finished, we mustered back on deck for a dance party to the song, “Oh What a Night.”
C-Watch is now preparing to take the deck again for evening watch, but beforehand, we are having the tuna we caught yesterday for dinner!
P.S. Hi mom, miss you!
