Good Morning! Thursday got off to a great start with beautiful weather and hash browns and sausage for breakfast. B Watch completed a busy morning watch, including working on projects, setting the JT sail, and sailing towards Stellwagon Bank (a marine preserve.) We left the open ocean and saw many other boats for the first time in days. Soon the shores of Cape Cod were visible, and for a bit we sailed along them using no motor.
After a delicious lunch, we conducted two drills on the boat. First, we did a fire drill, and in preparation we lowered the main sail together. Next, we had to put on long red immersion suits, and we looked like lobsters! Around 4 o'clock, several humpback whales swam alongside our boat. We all watched from different parts of the ship, some people on top of the Lab, others on the bow. Their blowholes shot ten feet into the air, and their tails splashed onto the blue sea. For dinner we ate steaming bowls of beef ramen, and afterwards gathered on top of the Lab again to watch a gorgeous sunset over the small town of Provincetown, on the tip of Cape Cod. A pink sun lowered over the Pilgrim tower in the distance while we anchored our boat in the harbor. Finally, after games of cards and Jenga, we are soon heading to bed.
Alex S: Hi mom and dad ! I miss you, Luc, and Zita so much and I am so excited to see you and the dogs! I'm having such a good time and I wish I could stay on the boat longer. Love you!
