Departing Dyers Dock, bound for Ireland!

Ship's Log

41° 28.1’N x 70° 34.8’W

Having completed their brief shore component at SEA’s campus in Woods Hole, the student crew of C253 boarded the SSV Corwith Cramer at 1400 this afternoon. After an initial round of orientations, we departed Dyer’s Dock at 1700 and headed over to Martha’s Vineyard. We are now anchored for the night in Vineyard Haven Harbor off East Chop, with the lights and buildings of the town in clear view along the nearby shoreline.  Following a delicious spaghetti dinner, the students broke into their watches and will continue getting oriented to the ship as they stand anchor watch through the night. All is well, and everyone is excited to be aboard. The rest of the crew and I are all looking forward to working with this delightful group of students. Please continue reading this blog to hear about our adventures over the coming four weeks during our trans-Atlantic voyage.
