After a week in Bermuda, Mama Cramer is back out to sea and we are headed to New York! This morning we had all hands on deck helping to prepare the ship before we left Bermuda. We made quite a mess during the port call, especially with all the dock lines out from yesterday, and it was time to clean, clean, clean! I felt like I was cleaning my house before leaving for vacation; there was sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing, along with coiling, hanging, and furling. After everything was ship shape, we were sailing by 1030 into the large swells that awaited us outside of the bay.
Other than feeling a little seasick, I’m pretty excited to sail again! Unfortunately, that also means we only have 10 days left on the Cramer, which I’m not quite ready to leave yet. We are still in the “shadow’ phase now, but we have different mates and scientists who will guide us through the “Junior Watch Officer” Stage, which is just a few days away. Who knows what will happen when the students start running the boat?! Stay tuned to find out.
P.S. I’d like to wish my momma, Jan, along with all the other moms out there a happy Mother’s Day tomorrow!
