An Amazing Day
This morning we woke up to a wonderful breakfast of scrambled eggs, home fries, and oranges. Next we had our daily watch meetings and answered a leadership prompt.
This was followed by our Oceans and Society class where we learned about the triangular triads, European expansion, and the Niger delta. We also learned about two activists, Olaudah Equiano and Ken Saro-Wiwa, and how to see things in different perspectives. Primarily, how trade affects the counter IRS and people who manufacture goods not consume them.
Later, after lunch, we went the the WHOI Geology lab at the Quisset campus. At the WHOI Geology lab, researchers are currently studying ancient sediment samples, called cores, in hopes of discovering signs of strong storms or hurricanes. With these findings, researchers hope to be able to detect future hurricanes and the impact they could have on the environment.
Finally, we had a pizza movie night and watched Finding Dori and The Emperor's New Groove. It was an amazing day, full of once in a lifetime experiences, and we all look forward to the events planned in the next couple of days!
