Mackenzie Haberman - 3rd Mate, C-201

Mackenzie Haberman has been working with SEA for the past five years since graduating college with a degree in environmental science from Barnard College of Columbia University (New York, NY).  While in college she studied geochemistry at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory quantifying recent sediment deposition in the Hudson River, collecting and analyzing hundreds of gravity cores.  Since graduating, she has worked on a myriad of tall ship and environmental programs taking occasional breaks to work as a hot air balloon technician in Switzerland and a dog sledding instructor in Iceland.  Most recently, she spent two summers in Alaska fishing for salmon and halibut, while educating people on the beauty and precariousness of the southeast Alaska conservation movement.  She holds a 100 GT Near Coastal Master/200 GT Near Coastal Mate license and AB-Sail from the U.S. Coast Guard.  She also makes a mean meatloaf and is very excited to partake in this expedition.
