Andrew Felcher - W-87

Andrew Felcher is a spouse, father and physician, originally from New York.  He earned his B.A. in English from Williams College.  He did his medical training at the University of Rochester School of Medicine, specializing in internal medicine, and currently works as a hospitalist in Portland, Oregon.  He has several research interests and has authored or co-authored articles on liver cell transplantation, tumor immunology and blood clotting diseases.

He started sailing as a child on lakes in upstate New York.  He had his introduction to open water sailing while in college in SEA Semester class W-87, and fell in love with the ocean.  During the many night watches, he spent hours looking at the stars and constellations which sparked a lifelong interest in astronomy.  Since then, wherever he is, he has always been able to look up in the sky at night and see his "old friends" in the stars.

For the past fifteen years, Andrew has called the Pacific northwest home, where he lives with his wife and three children.  He has no idea why they let him go away for a six-week sailing expedition, but he thanks them for it.
