Funds for capacity building are necessary to assure that SEA can more efficiently and productively serve its students. Among the needs in this area are funds for technology and enrollment.
Scholarship and Naming Opportunities
Campus Improvements
A new appeal for campus improvements is underway at SEA. The goal for this appeal is to raise $150,000 for campus improvements specifically targeting the student residential living facilities. At the close of the 2005-2006 fiscal year on June 30th, $105,000 progress has been made towards this goal.
These cottages still have the same Cape Cod charm they did years ago but inevitably they are showing the wear and tear of almost 100 classes. Structurally sound, they are in need of more than a field day of cleaning. Alumni and parents are attempting to raise $150,000 to cover the costs of interior painting, bathroom renovations, kitchen flooring and appliances, and new carpeting in the dorm rooms. Without the promise of luxury, SEA wants to continue to provide a healthy and positive environment in support of the rigorous academic schedule ashore. We hope that you will join us in this effort.
Permanent name recognition on a plaque to be placed on campus will be given to any donor with a gift or pledge of at least $500 to this appeal.
Campus-Naming Opportunities

Ship-Naming Opportunities
One way to provide a lasting tribute is by naming areas of or equipment on the SSV Corwith Cramer or the SSV Robert C. Seamans. Possible areas onboard range from the wet lab, quarterdeck, or library to the heads, galley, or bow sprit; the equipment items range from the hydrographic winch, j-frame, or bunk to a life raft or rescue boat.

Endowed Scholarships
$150,000 Presidential Named Scholarship Fund
Provides a $7,500 scholarship annually for a student who otherwise could not participate in the SEA Semester program.
$ 50,000 Named Scholarship Fund
Provides a $2,500 scholarship annually for a student who otherwise could not participate in the SEA Semester program.
Madden, Seamans, Doherty, and Cramer are just a few of the names that reflect the history of the Sea Education Association and the generosity of alumni, parents, and friends, both past and present. There are many opportunities to establish a lasting tribute in recognition of someone you wish to honor or memorialize. A gift of $50,000 or more for capital purposes is normally required to establish a named fund, which may take the form of endowment or an expendable gift for construction or renovation.
