Information for Volunteer Deckhand Applicants
Volunteer deckhand positions are available on board SEA's vessels throughout the year. Deckhands are important members of the ship's crew both during summer programs, during shipyard maintenance periods and in some occasions, on semester programs. Positions are occasionally available on transits.
Anyone is encouraged to apply; however, please note that due to the high volume of applications received for summer positions and some yard periods, SEA alumni and/or individuals with prior experience are more likely to be competitive candidates.
Deckhands are volunteers and are responsible for their own travel to and from the ship. Room and board are provided, and incidental expenses will be reimbursed up to $5/day for days in port.
