Skye Morét-Ferguson, 3rd Scientist, C-190
During her childhood, Skye became inspired by the oceans by spending most days frolicking in the waves of the Pacific. She realized quickly that wherever her life would wander, she would always have a short tether to the ocean. To finally explore the wonders of the open sea, Skye sailed as a SEA semester student in 2003. Since graduating from Oregon State University with a study emphasis in marine biology, Skye has volunteered for The Nature Conservancy on Palmyra Atoll and taught different aspects of marine ecology to various age groups from Costa Rica to Long Island Sound. She has spent the last four years in perhaps the most rewarding environment: teaching hands-on oceanography to undergraduates on 13 SEA Semesters. Skye worked up much of SEA's plastic dataset that helped fund this cruise, and is thus deeply interested and looking forward to the discoveries that lie ahead.
