Eric Romelczyk - 2nd Mate
Eric Romelczyk lives in Bristol, RI, steps from the water and a sandwich shop to write home about. He grew up in Warwick, RI where he was often spotted sailing small boats on Narragansett Bay. At the age of 16 he discovered traditional sailing and the sail training community and the course was set. He graduated in 2008 from Maine Maritime Academy holding a B.S. in small vessel operations and a 500-ton Ocean Mate license from the U.S. Coast Guard. Since his graduation, he has worked in the sail training industry, most recently as chief mate/engineer on the SSV Geronimo. His career so far has offered him adventures from Greenland and Labrador to the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and West Africa, however this is his first thrilling voyage on the Robert C. Seamans. He looks forward to learning the Seamans and working with her crew. A new fan of farming, Eric is in the process of mastering a green tomato pesto and already bakes up a mean sourdough loaf.
