Chrissy Dykeman grew up in land-locked upstate New York, but that didn’t keep her from developing a strong love for the ocean and all things ocean-related.  She graduated from Cornell University in 2010 with a B.S. in biology, and is an alumna of SEA Semester class S-219.  While at Cornell, Chrissy worked in a coral disease lab and spent time doing research at Shoals Marine Lab on Appledore Island, ME.  After graduating, she completed a research apprenticeship through the University of Washington at Friday Harbor Labs, where she studied zooplankton diversity and distribution in the San Juan Channel.  In the fall of 2011 she spent a season sailing as a marine educator with Salish Sea Expeditions in Puget Sound, where she got to geek out on zooplankton with middle and high school students.

As an undergraduate student, Chrissy fell in love with SEA Semester and knew she had to return to the organization.  She has been an assistant scientist with SEA since March 2011 and is incredibly excited to join Plastics at SEA: North Pacific Expedition 2012.
