Hi! My name is Elizabeth, and I am the newest Admissions Counselor at SEA Semester! I’m from Cleveland, Ohio, but am also excited to finally be living near the ocean on the Cape. I just graduated from Williams College in 2012 with a BA in biology with concentrations in environmental studies and maritime studies. I did SEA Semester: Ocean Exploration (C-233) the winter of my junior year at Williams and fell in love with the program and the organization.
In studying abroad I was really looking for an adventure, and SEA combined superior academics with the excitement of challenging myself by living and working on the high seas for six weeks. Also, in high school I spent my junior fall at the Mountain School of Milton Academy, a semester program that focuses on environmental science and place-based learning all while working to maintain a sustainable organic farm. The Mountain School really turned me onto the power of experiential education, the benefit of living in a small intimate community, and an appreciation for the natural world. My experience there was a major contributing factor in my attending SEA. Also, the combination of science research and sailing at SEA was really attractive to me. I was captain of the sailing team at Williams and really looked forward to learning all about tall ships, a type of boat I had never sailed before.
SEA Semester was such a life changing experience for me in college, and I’m so lucky to have a job that allows me to talk about it all day long (something I do already!) and to help students discover this unique opportunity. I look forward to working with you!
Outside of work, I enjoy dance, baking and decorating cupcakes, and sailing of course!
