Hello! My name is Ashleigh McCord and I’m an Admissions Counselor at SEA Semester. I grew up in Georgetown, TX, a small town outside of Austin. I attended Bard College in the Hudson Valley of New York, where I studied Film and Electronic Arts and Anthropology, and focused primarily on documentary film production. In 2006, during my junior year, I attended SEA and was a participant in class C-208, the first semester of Documenting Change in the Caribbean, now called Colonization to Conservation in the Caribbean.
After graduation, I returned to the Cape to pursue my interests in environmental issues through service with Barnstable County's AmeriCorps Cape Cod program. After three years of helping to address the Cape's natural resource management needs as an AmeriCorps member and supervisor, I stayed in the area to join SEA as an Admissions Counselor, and am helping to spread the word about the program and guide future SEA students through the application process. I am excited to be part of the Woods Hole community and an organization which addresses critical issues through such a uniquely hands-on approach. I love working with students from across the country as they prepare to start their ocean adventures!
I have studied oboe for many years and currently play with several groups on and around the Cape. During most of my free time, I can be found roaming around various conservation areas, beaches, and other interesting places on the Cape, and "researching" the best local ice cream spots (findings to be published later). And of course, I always love a good New York Times crossword puzzle.
